Bonsai Plants Are Symbolic Of Eastern Customs And Tradition
The orient was where the art of bonsai plants and bonsai making originate. As part of home decor, bonsai plants are very popular in homes of the orient. But there are still some forward looking groups of women of Chinese descendants who oppose bonsai decor as an art. The reason is because they see a close relation between the bonsai plants and bonding of feet in the earliest Chinese period. Feet bonding were considered a tradition in China and small feet is a sign of beauty; hence many parents forced their girls to wear sandals to restrict the growth of their feet. The ancient tradition of forcing young girl to wear sandals to hamper the growth of their feet did cause lots of suffering. As a result many were crippled in adulthood. There are many similarities between the bonding of the feet and the art of bonsai plants as in bonsai, the plant was constricted from growing by confining the roots in shallow pot, and hence the planting of bonsai plants was strongly opposed by modern women of Chinese descendants. Even though the art of bonsai plants may be opposed by certain sectors because of the similarity in stunting the natural growth of matters, the cultivating of bonsai plants is still a proud tradition uphold by many oriental. This form of art making has been passed down from many generations to another and have since been accepted by Europe and the United States as a thing of beauty. The bonsai plants can now be seen in many thousands of homes the world over. Understanding The Bonsai Plants Since the bonsai plants are miniaturized version of the real trees, their roots are stunted from growing by putting them in shallow pots and hence they cannot hold much water in the roots. If they are not watered regularly, the roots will wilt and die. Therefore it is necessary to water the bonsai plants twice a day but be careful not to overdo it, as too much water will cause the root to rot. Bonsai plants are essentially grow in an indoor environment to prevent them from being exposed to the harsh sunlight and the wind as they are very sensitive to them because they are delicate miniaturized plants. Exposure to the extreme sunlight will cause it to wither and die but with proper care and attention, the bonsai plants can flourish for hundred of years and can be passed down from generation to generation.
